Rather than be drafted by an NBA team in June and be shipped to Europe to work on his game, former Maryland forward, Verizon Hoops 4 The Cure Classic/Halftime Sports Alumni, Robert Carter, opted to try his luck as a free agent with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA’s Summer League.
After struggling with his outside shot in Las Vegas – he was 0-for-11 from 3-point range – Carter is headed to Europe after all.
According to a news release, Carter signed with Enel Basket Brindisi, a team in the first division of the Italian League.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Carter was the fourth Maryland player to sign with European teams recently. Dez Wells and Evan Smotrycz signed with teams in the top league in Germany, while Nick Faust (City), who finished his career last season at Long Beach, signed with a team in Israel’s top league.
